Just wanted to thank Mike and all the others that offered very helpful solutions to a kayak-on-a-truck situation. I forwarded these all to my friend and she was really pleased and got just what she wanted. Great resource your paddlewisers!!! Ken, Apologies for the late reply, but I've been busy delivering presents to good children all over the world. One of the neatest solutions I've seen to adapting Yakima bars to a pickup truck is the Trac Rac system (www.tracrac.com). The system is based on rails which are easily mounted on the sides of the pickup box. Accessories, including posts and brackets capable of accepting Yak crossbars, are mounted on the rails and can be positioned by sliding them fore and aft. There's even an extension piece for mounting a crossbar over the cab. Trac Rac looks like a very solidly-made product line, and the rail system has the virtue of not intruding into the space within the pickup box.
