Any recommendations on folks to do this in the San Francisco Bay Area
or nearabouts?<<

If you want to try a "do it yourself" project, there's a good article
in the Feb. '98 Sea Kayaker about making your own very comfortable
cockpit arrangement - including custom carved foam seat, hip pads,
and backband. You can customize the thigh brace pads as well.

I've paddled a lot of Necky boats, and though there are some nice
boats among them, I've never liked the seats - especially the high
seat backs - definitely rip that out and replace it with a backband.

Also - I think Gabriel Romeu (on this list) has a site dedicated to
customizing - sorry, but I can't locate the URL at the moment. I'm
sure Gabriel or someone will have it handy.

A comfortable and securely fitting cockpit makes all the difference
in the world - good luck!

Melissa
