I wrote Matt, backchannel, but on second thought I decided to send this to
the list in case anyone else is interested in the price info' or wants to
see a couple of my first pictures taken with the camera in the enclosure.
List members can check out the pictures in the Monterrey folder. Only the
three described as attached below were taken with the P1, the rest are film
pics taken with a Minolta Weathermatic Dual 35. URL is:

Matt, checkout http://www.mysimon.com, I bought the camera and enclosure,
just before Christmas, from dealers I found there. The camera from Harmony
Computers for $699 and the enclosure, I think, was from EMS computing for
around $170. Today, there are two outfits selling it for around $170 in the
MySimon results. I find that checking MySimon and Buy.com usually finds me
the best prices available on anything I want. I've bought a lot of stuff
this way and never had a problem with anything. I just live right I guess.

My main problem, so far, is keeping water drops off the front of the
enclosure window at the lens. I'm going to try the Rain-X stuff I use on the
car windshield, next time out. I used the provided anti fog on the inside
and outside and the drops seemed to adhere to the outside so I couldn't
shake them off. I think I'll also pick up a real small chamois and try that.
Let me/us know how you like yours.

By the way I saw my first whale while kayaking yesterday, from about 20 feet
away, a 30' gray surfaced right next to me, only about 300 feet from the
breakwater at Monterey Harbor mouth. I've been literally miles out in the
ocean, off Pt. Pinos, looking for them, and now I see one almost in the
harbor. :-) Yesterday was a good day even tho' I was too excited to think
of grabbing my camera. (I wear it on the strap around my neck and left arm.
It rests in front of my chest and is really right at hand, if I release my
paddle.) I got a couple of shots of a Bat Ray, lounging along on the
surface, with my P1. They're attached for your amusement. Excellent picture
of my paddle blade, hey? Also a picture, I like, of a photographer getting
a snap of Buoy # 4 and it's teenage residents.

Fair winds and happy bytes,
