Hi!
Little comment,

> The G2F and HPS shafts are certainly stronger and stiffer than the G1F.

them.

Every shaft does absorbes shock. Some more, some less. the HPS ist stiffer
than the G2F, okay. But both arenīt like steel. I played some years Canoe
Polo, and the HPS is the most sturdy one.
Okay, canoe Polo isnīt touring paddling. But there are always two sides on
a medal. Stability is much more important, than total shock absorption. And
.... the longer the shaft (toruing paddles) the more shock absorption!

I would take the G2F. But itīs an individual choice, for everyone.
Especially on the different places and circumstances, where someone went to
paddle.

Compass: I use Silva 70 UN and 70 P. for the 70 UN, you could buy in
germany a special tube, mounted through the deck. the compass is stuck
inside und you couldnīt lose him in waves. Itīs no problem to get him out,
while paddling.
Other way is the 70 P. Itīs the same form, without the stick. It have to be
mounted in a recess. You couldnīt get him out and use for hand bearing. But
you can light him with a red light (LED) in a special cap over the compass
(for paddling by night). You could buy the recess for additional assembly.

best regards to all and thanks for all your Information on C.Cunningham and
the seakayakers magazine
