Practice, practice, practice.

I don't believe that Audrey Sutherland practices, or even can roll her
13' inflatable, but she has spend many hours practicing a reentry
technique. She practiced in calm warm water conditions and practiced
when the wind was blowing 30 knots and in 20 ft swells. She practiced
using her paddle and boat tethers so that was able to get back in
her boat quickly and safely every time. When she capsized off the coast
of Alaska it took her 28 seconds to get back in her boat.
