Checking German's www.zoelzer.de web site I discover they are developing new
kayak technology. Amazing !

Visit http://www.zoelzer.de/eng/neuheiten.htm , fasten your seatbelts, and
prepare to fly !!!

I "die" for trying it .....

Ralph Hoehn:

Zoelzer is an excellent supplier of kayak related gear and certainly an innovator in this field!

However, as far as the combination hard shell cockpit ("rigid seasock") folding skin-on-frame combination depicted under the URL you cite goes, Mr. Zoelzer's claims to be the "inventor" are pure hyperbole. The concept has been around for years and his are not the only attempts at realizing and commercializing the idea.

It is a very interesting concept ...

:-)

Yeah!
Heinz Zoelzer is an interesting and unsusal type of paddler, inventor,
builder.....
Here in germany it will says: "Zoelzer quality for Zoelzer prices."
But thats okay. Good things have their price and soo expensive - he isnīt.
Good things will function longer and longer without problems, so they are
cheaper... Like Jackets from North Face or Berghaus...
If you got too much money and want something special, he could build it
espescially for you. By some things you might must wait for it, because
they canīt got anythng on stock and build most things only time by time,
but Kayaker have to be flexible, so itīs no problem.

If you or someone else need further Infos or have special questions, I
might help. ...
Essen isnīt so far away and sometimes I like to drive long tours with
bicycle, if there is sense to do so.

For me itīs sometimes crazy, when I got an idea and think about how I could
realize it. Then I hear about the newest idea from Zoelzer - and he has
found a realisation. Like his new Skeg-rudder-system, or the paddle-safer.
But my version of safe my paddle with an elastic strap is easier and more
comfortely.
Some funny comment from him, when I ask him how much it would cost, fit my
Sirius with the skeg-rudder. His answer: "find a good insurance, paddle
out, sunk it and buy a new one..... its cheaper and easier then." :-)))

Zoelzer gots now a new companion, maybe a foreshadowing of his retirement.
I think, the man is good choice! So, the Zoelzer company will stay on!

best regards

Thanks for the link. In browsing through the site, I found the following
delightful paragraph under New Products.

Yes Ralph,

That's what I meant with the original mail when I said .... "Visit
http://www.zoelzer.de/eng/neuheiten.htm , fasten your seatbelts, and

prepare to fly !!!"

Many years ago I used to play with friends on a local marina jumping with our
white water kayaks from a special bed properly mounted on one arm of a "Clark"
elevator. We parked the clark right at the border of the deck, arms pointing
to the water, put our kayaks on the bed, get in the kayak, rise the arms .....
and jump of !!! ... 4 mts of pure adrenaline !!!

Zoelzer seems to have taken that fun close to perfection ....

Too hot here in Buenos Aires .... waiting for Saturday paddle to come ...

Best regards !
