FWIW Even on this side of the Atlantic we are not safe from Tim's spam. the
usenet group uk.rec.boats.paddle is also swamped with Tim's latest drivel.
Tim un-surprisingly is completely oblivious to the fact that this
newsgroup's traffic is mostly from white water paddlers who really are not
interested in spamsons on their playboats :-) - the responses were funny at
first....

I was subscribed to Wave~length when Ingram first started his insane spam
crusade, and remember well how he managed to swamp the medium - the benefit
however was paddlewise rising phoenix like from the ashes. I'm pretty much
a silent lurker but I have been subscribed since the list was formed. I'll
add my thanks to Jackie and the membership of the list for its entertainment
value, and Ralph I recall you had just a wee bit of input into raising
support for the new list as it was formed - thanks also.

Cheers

Colin

Wha?!? You don't have any control over the Timster??? :-)

Aw... it's the internet. You shouldn't worry about it too much. I
once had some guy threaten me because I wouldn't let him peddle his
sponsons on PaddleWise and terrify the subscribers :-)

I know that I would be one of the first to piss-and-moan
about "censorship" .... but sometimes even I find myself reaching for the
duct tape, and wishing I could reach through the LCD screen and...oh never
mind.

Personally, I think censorship is a GREAT thing........ as long as I get to
do the censoring :-)

Rick

"...it is now a toss up between Mike
Vandeman and his mountain-bike crusade, and a curious mix of white-power
cross-posters.) "

I quit reading the rec.xxx newsgroups years ago because of all the junk
that went on. Vandeman was one of the nuts chewing up the bandwidth back
then. I'm shocked to hear he is still out there. There are some real nuts
who have no life...... You would think they would run out of gas and go
away. I used to read a JFK newsgroup. I wonder if the same people are
still out there arguing..... 8-)

What is suprising is that there GREAT places on the Internet with wonderful
and informed people. And as I think about it, they are moderated at some
level. Since I bought some land last year I have spent all my free time
working on the property. A great deal of my online time is on
www.tractorbynet.com. The site has a great deal of good information about
tractors and rural living. TBN has saved me lots of time and money. I
can't believe how much I have learned and continue to learn at that site.
Its like Paddlewise, there is just a great wealth of information and the
people are civil and mature. Its refreshing instead of depressing. 8-)

I'm glad everyone at Paddlewise can play well in our SandBox or would that
be PaddleBox. 8-)

Later....

Yup, that would be about right :-)

You are very welcome, Wes, and others that have expressed kind thoughts.
It is important to add that the primary reason this list is the success
that it is (we now have approximately 700 subscribers on PaddleWise) is
because of the generous contributions to PaddleWise from its members.
Including the messages, trip reports, URL's pointing to photos and trip
reports, as well as the folks that have volunteered to contribute
to the PaddleWise website by gathering postings from different subjects to
keep them updated, the Who's Who list, t-shirts and decals, photos, etc.

It's a mighty fine community :-)

Cheers,

Jackie

That's correct. Ralph's encouragement and support helped me see that
PaddleWise, as an alternative to WaveLength, was the right thing to do.
He certainly deserves a thanks as I don't think we would have PaddleWise
without him. Thanks, Ralph :-)

Cheers,

Jackie
