Does anyone have a ideas/views on separating the lower segments of a 4 part
Werner Carbon Fiber paddle which is stuck. I tried penetrating oil, strap
wrenches, mild heat from hot water, all to no avail. My own fault of course,
I hadn't separated them for a year and I think water evaporated (fresh)
leaving calcium carbonate or some such behind. I am planning a vinegar soak
with a rag around the joint for a few days. Any wisdom?

You should be able to get at least one joint loosened by holding a blade between your ankles and the shaft between your knees. Grasp the shaft with your hands and twist. That is how Werner told me to get my Camano apart. They told me to rub the mating parts with one of those plastic kitchen sponges made for non-stick surfaces to loosen the fit, but that didn't work. So I used a very fine grit sandpaper on the mating surfaces and haven't had a problem since.

I did the same thing with all my paddles, i.e. sand down lightly the male
connection of both 2 and 4 piece paddles and have not had a sticking
problem.

As for how to get a stuck 4-piece paddle apart. Try weighing it down and
soaking it in a tub. Water tends to penetrate into the connection and
loosen up the gucky stuff. Or at least that is the hope. Every so often,
bang on the connection with a rubber mallet. This helps break up adhesion.
Also do some twisting of the connection while it is underwater. Your
vinegar soak may also do.

Werner advised me (with a 2-piece paddle) to place one blade under the arm near
the armpit, paddle shaft horizontal. Another person then twists the other
blade. I asked them what to do if that did not work: "Then mail it to us. We
have a guy named Bruno who takes care of the sticky ones."

All those are good to try. Someone else mentioned spraying the connection with
CRC (or WD-40). Don't! If you are compelled to spray anything on the mating
surfaces, use silicone spray.
