The 12v charger has a cigarette lighter plug on one end and a plug that goes into the radio on the other. I suppose if you connected a waterproof cigarette lighter plug to your 4 amp hour 12v battery it would charge and/or power the radio. Since the 1100 milli-amp hr battery that comes with it is supposed to give 10-12 hrs of service, some quick math would indicate about 40 hours of service from the 4 ah battery before it completely ran down. You could probably find the appropriate 12v plugs and related wiring at www.boatus.com or www.westmarine.com.
