[demime could not interpret encoding binary - treating as plain text] Since Dougboy was enquiring about the weight of British heavies I'll fess up. I got a new Romany Explorer last year. Shortly after getting it home I hauled out the scale and stepped on (dang, I need to lose 15 pounds). Then hefting my shiny new boat I stepped back on. Hmmm. NDK lists a Romany Explorer with skeg at 58#. Mine with hatches on and deck compass attached came in at 62#. Maybe one of those extra pounds was from the hatches and another was from the compass? That still made it 2 pounds over the listed (assumed stripped) weight. Oh well, it still feels lighter than my old plastic boat. :) Mel (who learned how to paddle a solo canoe this last weekend in a two day ACA class, always looking to expand those horizons) ------------------------------------------------------------ --== Sent via Deja.com ==-- http://www.deja.com/ *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
