I live near there and paddle on the bottom part of Nipigon occasionally on day trips. I'm not an authority on it, though, and have not had any long trips on it. From low level overflights, the upper end looks to be nice, but I don't know about how much road access there is. I'll email you the email address of a couple of friends who have been instrumental in having much of Nipigon protected. They might be able to assist you concerning the upper end.
