The winds have been really strong this season. They were 15-20kt. this weekend. That is really open water. We decided to go up a creek rather than fight that wind. St. Clements is where I had my last encounter with a thunder storm. The storm shoved up some really big waves. I was actually happy when the rain came back because I knew it would flatten them back out. The lightening was really close, like less than a full count of one!, but only the noise reached us. For whatever reason this is the third year of this trip and the third time a storm has come up. I'm questioning going this year <G>.
