Although it certainly does not hurt, I do not think using 303 will solve the
VCP hatch deterioration problems. I started a thread on this topic a little
over a year ago and have had numerous replies here on paddlewise and
conversations with dealers and other paddlers. I used 303 on my hatches
regularly and both the smaller front and the larger rear oval failed within 3
years (about 2.5 year for the smaller front hatch). The failure first
appeared on the inside of both covers. In talking with people it seems that
most of the hatch covers either lasted more than 6 years or failed around 2
years. I asked a couple of dealers if they thought there might have been
some change of material in the last couple of years, but none of them had any
idea. My small 7.5" round hatch replacement cover is almost 1.5 years old
and shows no sign of any problems yet.
