Paddlewisers, I know there are a lot of you out there who love to read about paddles gone wrong. Most of these types of stories bore me because they usually involve novice paddlers. However, this story is a particularly good one because it involves some highly experienced paddlers. The story is at the San Diego Kayak Club website in the April newsletter (which can be found at: http://www.sdkc.org/newsletters). Note that the newsletter is in PDF (acrobat reader) format. If you don't have the program, it can be downloaded for free from the webpage. The Northern Four Channel Islands crossings trip that Jim Gabriel and I completed is also in the newsletter, but never mind it, because it has already been scrutinized for egoism, bad seamanship, and recklessness on this list. It's funny how it's OK screw up, but if you achieve something, people want to tear you down. Anyhow, I think you will enjoy the rescue story, which by the way didn't involve me.
