I had the same thought, Gabriel, but I succumbed to the lazy-bug and used the screws with lots of silicone caulk. After the compass was in place, I used a nipper and a file to eliminate any sharp points inside the hatch, then slathered on another coat of the silicone. It's been close to three years now, and so far so good. bv > Anybody have any thoughts?
