[Paddlewise] mounting compass

I just received my Nexus in Bruton packaging which fits nicely onto the
recess of my Romany. I am rather perplexed that screws are supplied
assuming that most people will mount them in fiberglass. I would assume
that this + silicone caulk would be sufficient, but not the optimum way.
Anybody have any thoughts? My first inclination is drilling out for
#8-32 nut, bolt and washer with either a neoprene or silicone gasket.

(just to save some typing, non ferrous metal of course)
