I often paddle the busy Intracoastal Waterway and sometimes have to deal with very large boats..70-100ft in very narrow, almost canal like areas. Occasionally, they are moving at high speed and will be courteous and slow down, throwing a huge wake and turning the entire waterway into a Maytag. I always wave or yell "Thanks Captain", because the intent was good, though the results often challenging.
