I've read a lot about seasocks lately. Some of it seems to be based on good physics but not necessarily direct experiment. I became a convert the day I decided to practive braces and recoveries in my old (but new to me) K-1. I was using the sprayskirt but sill getting a lot of water in the boat. After beaching I tucked the sea sock well into the kayak, and then drew it up and stretched the elastic around the coaming. I slipped in easily, and got out just as easily. No clinging (the partial vacuum held the sock in the boat) and no snagging. Didn't even have to burp it. Of course, my bulk may help out there. Smaller paddlers may find burping necessary. Now I always use it. In fact, I'd love to have sea socks for my other boats. -- mike ------------------------- Michael Edelman mje_at_spamcop.net http://www.foldingkayaks.org http://www.findascope.com *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
