I have never used these Msr products but they have a bunch of 
accessories available.  I think they are your best bet.

Again by carrying more than one you mitigate consequences of a single 
failure.  If this is a salt water expedition consider a pur 
desalinator. check out www.westmarine.com. Or find used large unit 
available on accessories section of paddling.net go to classified 
ads/ accessories/ then use their search for "pur" Big money though
