From your description, I'd guess it's a DYS, a David Yost Special. It was mainly intended as a racing boat. The extreme tumblehome was to facilitate sit-and-switch style paddling, but this boat could also be leaned way over for fast turns (keep that brace!). It's a little wider around and just aft of the paddler which improves lateral stability considerably for this kind of boat. With its weight and size, it was often used as a solo tripping boat, too. --Still see a few for sale now and again.. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
