Jeff,

I understand your dilemma about trying to find camping along the coast while
kayak tripping. I've done some tripping along the Southern California coast.
I try to follow the law, so I don't do any illegal camping either. What I
did was get camping guide books, and use them to find state and private
campgrounds along my trip route. Then I try to space the campgrounds out in
reasonable distances and make reservations where it is needed. You may even
have to stay in a motel in some areas, but I haven't had to do that yet.
However, I have had to paddle 25 NM in a day to reach the next campground.
You could also have a land support person, who is a very good friend, in an
RV or car drop you off and pick you up along the way. I do have a secret
plan for bucking the system, but I don't want to give it away until I've
tried and written about it.

Good luck!
