The biggest I know of that's commonly available is MSR's 10-liter
Dromedary bag, which otherwise fits your requirements (about $30). But
two of those should do, I would think.

I never have liked the taste of water coming out of the Dromedary bag. I
had several and have wound up throwing them away or they are buried in back
of a closet (I had them both before and after the recall they had x years
ago...but found no difference in what I feel is a bad taste they give to
water). The best container for taste and versatile use are those REI or
Campmor pillow type bags that cost around $7 and hold about 3 gallons. The
spouts work well and they resist puncturing.

Dear Ralph and Paddlewisers,

As always, great to get information from those who have the
experience. Ralph did you try airing out the inside of the bags for
a bit then soaking the MSR bladders with baking soda in water for a
day or two after. I've never been able to use any bladder, even
Gregory's mylar lined one, without that process. I usually find
things much better with this stuff after a couple of baking soda
baths. If I had plunked down real money I might even try soaking
their insides with activated charcoal in water.

Jim, if I decided to go with the MSR Dromedary bags, I would
buy from REI or LL Bean and use their satisfaction guarantee.

All the Best,

Peter Kalanzis

I have had that experience with the Dromedary bags, also, but discovered that
truly "fresh" water with __no chlorine__ does not cause that problem. The
problem was much worse before the recall.

I think it is an interaction between the chlorine and something in the
waterproof layer inside the bag.

I did several times following whatever instruction they gave. Maybe I
should have done so more. The REI/Campmor simple pillow sacks don't need
any of that...the water tastes good right away and surprisingly okay even
after being left with some in it for a few weeks. I have not had puncture
or leaks with the valve in mine. They are from Campmor, if that makes a
difference...I suspect they are from the same source with different house
logos.

Try cleaning with vinegar solution.
