If anyone on the list has paddled out to Marthas Vineyard from the mainland
[Falmouth/Woods Hole area], I'd be very interested in reading/learning about
your experiences, and shooting some questions your way. My brother and I
intend to make the crossing this July and are eager to tap all sources of
information. Will be happy to share with the list what we learn about this
particular sojourn -- one we've both wanted to do for some time, but
schedules, finances, living hundreds of miles apart has prevented us from
doing until now.

Dear Jim,

The currents in the Woods Hole area are absolutely some of
the hairiest in New England. You will see four foot chop there on an
average day. I have played about there once, but I am not good
enough yet to voluntarily make the crossing to the Vinyard. I trust
you will get better advice from the more experienced. Have a good
trip. If you want to stop by for a beer just e-mail and we'll work
it out.

Peter Kalanzis,
Lincoln, MA.

Check out Charles River Canoe & Kayak's web page:
http://www.ski-paddle.com/cano/canoe.shtml
They are a good outfitter and trip runner.

They run a Wood's Hole - Martha's Vinyard trip. Maybe
they'd be willing to share with you the infomation you need.

I went on several trips with them when I was living in
Massachusetts, including a Wood's Hole - Cuttyhunk
round-trip, the longest day trip I'd been on at that time.
Most enjoyable. It was led by Dave (?) Jacques, the owner.
