After a long hiatus, I have resubscribed to PaddleWise. Having found the knowledge here most helpful in the past, I am now seeking help again. My wife and I are in the wonderful dilemma of having ten free days in mid-September to do a little exploring. We are trying to decide between the Georgian Bay, Ont. region and Vancouver Island, BC. We've never seen either place and are looking for those who know them well. We are looking for kayaking, camping and hiking possibilities. Vancouver Island: Is it too late in the season for that part of the country? Has anyone taken the Inside Passage ferry to Prince Rupert or the one to Bella Coola, and is there much to see and do once you get there? If I travel that far (from Michigan), am I better off renting a kayak than taking our Nautiraid Grand Raid? If renting, any recommended dealers? Trip ideas? Georgian Bay: Routes? Camping opportunities? Is Killarney Park worth adding to the itinerary (I know it is popular with canoeists, but what about kayaks)? Thanks in advance for any advice, Steve *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
