[Paddlewise] Policy Violation re harvesting email addresses

Many PaddleWisers have received a spam from a recent subscriber to
PaddleWise who subscribed to the list, harvested email addresses from
those that posted to the list, and included those email addresses
without PaddleWiser's knowledge or permission to send them and
advertisement of his service.  This same individual attempted to
post a commercial advertisement several times to PaddleWise that
were blocked.  He was reminded of list policy which states no
commercial advertisements on PaddleWise.  I guess he decided to go
around that policy by building his own list out.

At any rate, this practice, of course, is against list policy (email
addresses may not be harvest from PaddleWise without the subscriber's
knowledge and permission to build a list).  It is also against the
Terms of Agreement of most ISP's.  I have reported the violation to
this individual'sl ISP.  

If this happens to anyone else on the list (you suspect you have
been spammed because you posted to PaddleWise), please let me know.
My aim is to protect the privacy of PaddleWise subscribers and 
prevent such abuses to the best of my ability.  This type of abuse
can often cause subscribers to resist posting for fear of being 
included on a spam list (which is why many of us are here and not
posting on Usenet or the web 8-}

Many folks refuse to do business with those that spam.  If you want to
know the list violator's name for that reason, write me privately.  He's
no longer subscribed to PaddleWise.
