in calmer conditions)
Aint that the truth! My kayak has no skeg or rudder and I can handle it
fine by leaning, including in a real sloppy chop, when it seems to just
settle down into the slop. But give me anythig bigger than 2 footers coming
beam on and I get a little tight and have trouble forcing myself to lean the
boat. One can, of course, use sweep strokes on the waves to compensate but
that is a lot more effort and one's ruddered companions will leave one behind
handily.
As for Matt's "compulsion" to test all the kayaks out there I can only
say, COOL! I have only been able to test paddle a dozen or so kayaks. I
think most of us would love to try to paddle them all. I know I love to read
all the kayak reviews I can get my hands on, even those at paddling.net. I
think people on this list could be a little more specific on their kayak
preferences, feelings and opinions. It is always good to hear what people
have to say about differnent boats.
