With daylight savings time changing soon, can someone please recount recommended lighting for evening paddles (on inland lakes specifically). The Coast Guard requires that you carry a white light (aka bright flashlight) that can be turned on when necessary. Otherwise no other lighting is necessary. However, they do require some sort of emergency visual signaling device such as flares. Hope this helps. What types of bodies of water do and do not Coast Guard rules apply? Of course there's always the various state Dept. of Natural Resources (or equivalent) rules.
