Most kayakers I know would regard the combination of a 22MPH wind and a 5' to 7' sea as very awkward. It would also imply occasional 14' and 15' waves! I wouldn't go out in such conditions intentionally. In fact I draw the line at either 6' sea or battling against a 20 knot winds, even though I'm capable of handling either condition. Downwind is OK though so long as its towards the shore:~) But!!!! it depends what is mean't by a sea? When people refer to a particular height of the sea do they mean short wavelength waves/chop (which is what I mean) or swell. I would think most experienced kayakers wouldn't have much problem with a a 5' to 7' swell even in 22MPH winds. Do meteorologists have a formal definition of "sea" ?
