If you really like to drive, I've been teaching a course near St. Augustine. You can paddle along the intercoastal waterway (Crescent Beach actually) and down to where it meets the Atlantic. Or just walk across to the Atlantic. Some friends of mine bought Coastal Kayaks (http://www.coastalkayaks.com) and changed the name to Coastal Outdoor Center. It is truly nice here, although there is a lot of boat traffic. I like the old oak trees.
