The Yakima Saddle is an integrated saddle/pad/strap system: a pad recesses
into the saddle when loading and unloading and then lifts to grip the boat
when the strap is tightened. Gluing mini-cell foam to cover the saddle would
alter the saddle/pad/grip system. A Yakima Limited Warranty states, "damage
resulting from misuse, accidents, or alterations are not covered by this
Limited Warranty" and "Yakima cannot assume responsibility for any damage to
any property arising out of the improper attachment or use of its products."
I wouldn't modify the saddles.
