As the ocean cools, the Manatees head for the spring fed waters like
Crystal River, which tends to stay in the high 60s in mid winter. I live
on the East Coast where the ocean is still in the high 70s. By checking
the Gulf temperatures and noting the differential, you'll get some idea
of the amount of Manatees heading for the fresh waters. Here they head
for the Intracoastal and congregate around the power plant outlets. One
typically encounters manatees while paddling.

Drop me a line when you head down this way.
