Hi,

We are planning a vacation to the San Diego area in a
couple weeks and I wanted to get suggestions on good
locations to paddle? Since we are flying in and will
probably have a fairly small rental car, could folks
suggest kayak rental locations that are close to the
water as well?

Thanks in advance,

Scot

Scott,

I just was in San Diego last weekend for a paddle and got to within 50
yds of a nuke attack submarine that was pulling out of it's pen to go to
sea. Way cool seeing the officers and men standing on the deck and
conning tower as it left.

There are two good paddling shops that I am aware of in the area. The
first is Aqua Adventures http://www.aqua-adventures.com They put on a
lot of trips and also rent boats. I've never used them but know that
they are a reputable shop from their dealings with the club I belong to,
California Kayak Friends.

The other shop is Windsport, http://www.windsport.net I have purchased
several paddles from them via the mail since San Diego is several
hundred miles away. Their prices and service are both good. They also
recommended several different paddles for me when I was there.

Hope this helps.
