Nothing.

Before buying a kayak get a business card from your favourite litigation
lawyer (I recommend Mayer, Brown and Platt). Take this to the dealer and ask
him and the builder to provide a maximum safe load figure and sign it. Then
put the figures in an envelope and send it to your lawyer with instructions
to sue till they bleed if something happens to you. Put another copy in a
safe deposit box in case you decide to change lawyers.
