Here in the Scottish Highlands we frequently paddle with Highland midges. They invariably drown. This is generally regarded as a good outcome. My golden retriever loves swimming in the sea, but she studiously ignores my kayak and my open sail boat. She simply won't climb aboard the boat: I think she regards me as an interloper in her private swimming pool. I wonder whether "sea mushing" would be possible: attach a couple of, say, Newfoundlands by a harness to your kayak and sit back for the ride. Presumably if anyone has tried they never lived to tell the tale. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
