Steve said: The Rom 16 is what I call a small/mid sized sea boat. If you are a small to mid sized paddler it'll hold a mid sized load. Now a week's worth, including sub-zero clothes would be stretching it for me _at_ 180lbs. Jim how big are ye? My reply: I forget how small I am. I'm 5'8", 140 pounds, very short legs. I pack my sleeping bag and 2 one-liter water bottles in front of my feet in the cockpit. And, in winter, I put a long, narrow dry bag on the deck. Two, if I want to live in luxury. So I guess I'm turning a day boat into an expedition boat that way. Most of my winter paddling is done alone on the Mississippi River off Savanna, Illinois. So I never have to deal with violent water. No matter how windy it gets the river twists and turns enough that there's never a long fetch. And I paddled whitewater for a long time, so turbulence doesn't bother me much. Thus the willingness to use deck bags. I've just talked myself into thinking I should hold my tongue when it comes to packing boats. It's clear I'm not a normal person.
