I'm headed to the Oregon Coast and SF Bay area in March for some much-needed family vacation time. I actually talked my sweet wife into giving me permission to bring not only one, but two kayaks along. Kayak surfing on the OR coast, and sea kayaking in SF Bay. That was a _very_ nice photo. Thanks for the heads-up for me to tell the dear wifey to use the full zoom setting, and take pictures of me moving. (Not necessarily surfing--my first time kayak surfing will probably have a lot of carnage, but moving nevertheless). Then again, she may not want to sit on the beach while I inhale salt water, and then I can make up stories, since there will be no photographic evidence that I may have exited my boat. I tried kayak surfing behind a ski boat this summer and to give her due credit, my wife actually took some very nice photos. The boat, an old Pirhouette, was subpar though.
