Shawna! When you "zoom" with a camera, it's easy to lose focus and hard to "stop action." Depending on what kind of camera your wife is shooting with, you could be asking her to accomplish the impossible. Typical results could be either dark or blurred prints. Your best chance would be in bright light, shooting with a tri-pod. It would also help if she had a shutter set-up where the camera woud continue shooting as long as she pressed down on the shutter button.
