Ralph Diaz did an admirable test report in the Folding Kayaker Newsletter.
Otherwise, you might find a review online, available at seakayakermag.com.
Just to put my 2 centavos in I use an Icom IC-M3A and a Uniden of unknown
model nomenclature.

The IC-M3A is not water proof and therefore it gets a radio bag for trips.
But, the batteries last me at least for the duration of a trip of 7 days in
length and I can add AA batteries for after that period of time. It is an
excellent product and they make some really nice products that are
submersable. <A HREF="http://www.icomradio.com">http://www.icomradio.com</A>

The Uniden, is submersable and I use it for weekends as the battery life
lasts only about 2 days and has no provision for alternating w/ a AA pack. I
wear it during roll practice, day trips, etc and it works just fine. One day
it won't but it only cost me $100 USD. Its a pretty good radio but its 3
years old and one day I'll roll and it'll come up smoking and I'll be writing
you to ask what you bought.

Have a great day!-Rob
