The icom m-15 is said by icom to be their best handheld..and is very durable
as far as I can tell...and submersion resistant.

Problem: No alkaline battery pack is available.

The icom nicad battery for it is VERY VERY expensive...about
150 dollars last time I checked...and so far I have no interest in replacing
the battery pack for my kayaking use. I would almost prefer to have one of
the Standard radios, and use alkaline batteries. The Standard radio is only
about twenty dollars more than the battery replacement for the Icom
M-15...and that battery price is not justified in anyway by the quality of
the battery.

There is no secondary manufacturer of a replacement battery for the
M-15..but if there were it would likely run about 50-60 dollars.
