A ski bag is cheaper and often holds more stuff to wrap around the paddle.  
And airlines are usually accustomed to ski bags.  This time of year ski bags 
are on sale everywhere, such as Akers.com, or even local sporting goods 
stores.  Especially here in the Chicago area where we still have had no 
skiable snow all winter.  [No offense to NRS though, I buy lots of stuff 
there.]

Hoping for snow....
