Here's a suggestion for an Old Florida river paddle the day after (or before)
the Sweetwater Symposium:

Hillsborough River just east of Tampa (Look for Thonotosassa, FL, on a
map.)

See: http://www.canoeescape.com/selfguided.htm for trip routes.

You can bring your own kayak and do your own shuttle or easily paddle upstream
and back from one of the put-ins.

Yesterday, with friends Shirley and Sandy, I paddled

- Sargeant Park to Morris Bridge Park and

- Morris Bridge Park to Trout Creek Park

The two segments took about 4 hours. Usually you will see lots of alligators
and a variety of birds including roseate spoonbills.

Enjoy!
