Thank you for your responses to my sponson/paddle float question with particular thanks to MZ for providing the link to the previous discussions on the subject. That led me to the Paddlewise Topic page which should provide many of the answers to my beginner questions. The sponson situation was weird. Apparently Tim Ingram's sponsons are well made and do serve a safety need in certain situations. But from what I read he is completely alienating those he wishes to serve. I saw where he referred to Paddlewise as a "particularly murderous little kayak cult." He seems to be his own worse enemy. I think your responses relative to him were quite restrained, all things considered. Mr. Ingram's best bet would be to totally divorce himself from the marketing of his product. I have a Klepper tandem so a roll is not an option. My main concern is getting back in the boat and getting the water out if capsized. I am not a year round paddler so am limited to water temps suitable for polypro and wool. I will practice as soon a I weather permits. Thanks again. G'day Joan and all the others who gave me advice on knee brace padding, I followed your advice about cutting back the knee brace padding and the numbness went away. Cut back and contoured the pads near the center of the deck to about halfway each side of the deck midline so when the legs need a rest I can move them to the center and when bracing is needed can move them to the side. I'm sure there are many different solutions but this one works well for me - problem has gone away and I can still brace effectively. Many thanks for the advice, All the best, PeterO *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
