Thanks to Sandy and Marinell who have provided some info already.... I'm interested in any info (trip reports, photos, advice, alternatives, etc) to a trip I'm trying to put together for late February or very early March, to Central Florida's West Coast. I'm currently focusing on the Crystal, Homassassa, and Chassahowitska (sp?) Rivers area. I'm trying to limit my travel days to one there and one back. This area is about a 16 hour drive, so that's my limit (if not over it). I should have about 6 paddling days (Sunday through the following Friday) with the days on each end being "light" days to recover from the drive down, and to rest for the drive back. I'm most likely going to use the Chassahowitska Camp Ground (if they aren't booked already) as a base camp. I got "some" info off the web, and some from local agencies in that area, but I would really like to hear more personal opinions and see more photos of the area ("regular" photos, not the cream of the crop publicity photos the agencies publish). I'd also like to hear opinions on options that I'm too ignorant to ask about (ie: is there a better place a little closer, additional destinations within reasonable distance of the camp ground, any "must visit" specific locations on the three rivers/coastal area mentioned above, etc). Any and all help is appreciated. Rick, We enjoyed all of those rivers on our recent visit - and they are actually quite different from one another. You'll probably be there at a better time of year, too. We figured Homosassa and Chassahowitzka must be Seminole words for "buggy place." :-) But then again, being from Poquoson, you might not even notice. ;-) I wouldn't pass by the Santa Fe or the Silver/Oklawaha without seeing at least one of those though. They're beautiful and have a very different look from the others you mentioned.
