I have traveled twice by air carrying my Kevlar Werner paddle in a really
nice protective canvas bag, while it protects the paddle quite well in its
separated compartments, there is nothing to protect me from abuse. You see,
it never occurred to me before the first flight (with many legs) that it
looked like a rifle case. I have been accosted by everything from animal
rights activists to airline pilots, various airline employees to passengers
that want to know how I "got that thing past security"

No, If I must go by air they will go "bare bones".

Hi Pat,
I wouldn't have imagined that problem either, but now that you tell the
story, it's a lot more probable than people's nail clippers being
confiscated....
Next time I travel with paddles, I'll wrap them in transparent bubble
wrap -- and thank you!

In the revised passenger carryon standards, I don't think you can get it past
security. I suspect that it would have to be checked on, though last night I
saw a guy walk on w/ a fender stratocaster. I'd call the airlines to see if
you even could.
