At minimum, he could post an advertisement in the store, and could put the info on the calendar for local paddling group (not a club, just a loose group) called Paddle the Peninsula. They have a sister group on the Northern Neck, but I can't recall the name. Also, try the Mid-Atlantic Paddlers Association (MAPA). MAPA is a non-profit organization that promotes water sport activities in the Mid-Atlantic area. We also, sponsor and participate in many canoeing and kayaking events. This includes marathon, sprints, dragon boat and outrigger races throughout the United States. As you can see, they do a lot of "events", so they should be able to give you some suggestions.
