I can recommend Sikaflex as excellent stuff from personal experience during a 
boat speed building competition in Mystic CT a few years ago (where 
essentially only the adhesive was supposed to hold some plywood together for 
a human and wind powered race the dayafter the building heats). I must add, 
however, that when we built the prototype the local store did not have 
Sikaflex and we were forced to use 3M. As a result I could not recommend one 
over the other in this application, which required both serious adhesion and 
excellent gap-filling / caulking properties. We cut up the competition boat a 
long time ago because the finish was not as good as on the prototype. The 
latter is still around and going strong ...
