We had a case like that around here just today. Three guys walleye fishing in an aluminum rowboat on the Maumee River near Toledo. Strong current, runoff conditions, water temps in the 40s at a guess. No PFDs, of course. Immersion gear? What's that? Can you swim? Well, uh . . . The boat overturned. One guy made it to shore on his own, and a young guy fishing along the bank managed with some risk to get to a second guy. Third guy gone; his jacket found miles downriver, no sign of him. -- Wes --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wes Boyd's Kayak Place http://www2.dmci.net/wesboyd/kayak.htm Kayaks for Big Guys (And Gals) | Trip Reports | Places To Go | Boats & Gear --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
