I wonder how Nautiraid, French manufacturers of foldable kayaks, have 
reacted to this (maybe there is a special dispensation for Nautiraids but 
not Kleppers / Feathercraft/ etc. : wouldn't surprise me :-)  ). I believe 
the French military use Nautiraids, so I look forward to hearing about the 
gendarmerie arresting french commandos.

Of course every democratic nation must decide its own rules and 
regulations. But kayakers are an international lot. Even if it not our 
place to protest outside our own countries, we should certainly at least 
let the French authorities know how their extreme and non-sensical 
restrictions will damage tourism. I have just bought a Feathercraft, and I 
do go on holidays to France: so this is far from academic for me.  Anyone 
have any idea who I should direct my comments to in France?
