Just like I hate to see cyclists without a helmet I hate to see paddlers without a lifejact - it's like a seat belt. If you study accidents you can see a definate pattern when these three items are not engaged....at an industry level we try to make sure that ads show paddlers with lifejackets - some magazines will refuse ads when they are not worn. In 45 degree water I think putting a lifejacket on after the fact could pose a few problems...
