    I found two outfitters listed for Valdez

I have no experience with either outfitter.

Another suggestion I have is for her to take the state ferry
(www.alaskaferry.com )over to Whittier and paddle with Alaska Sea kayakers.
alaskaseakayakers_at_yahoo.com  I am renting boats from them for my sons scout
trip this summer and they have been great to work with.
The ferry trip will give her a beautiful view of Prince William Sound plus a
close up view of the Columbia Glacier.  The west side of PWS, I think, is  a
better place to paddle. Less tanker traffic and more scenic.

After Sept.11 security has been tight around Valdez due to the pipe line
terminal. Just this past week they did military training exercises there
with a simulated terriost attack!
    Unfortunately I am 100 miles away from Whittier and  twice that from
Valdez so my offer to host would not do your friend much good.
    Also make sure your friend knows that weather can change real fast up
here and she should be prepared for wind, rain, wind, cool temps and of
course wind!
